The History
For a long time, the goal of the community of La Thuile was to have a World Cup race, thanks to the slope “N.3 Franco Berthod”, the steepest in Italy.
For many years they have worked to present a report to FISI and FIS about this nomination, and for many years have been waiting. Finally, in 2016, the realization of the dream: 1 SG and 2 DH (one of them was the rescheduled race of Crans Montana, cancelled a few days before).
The next edition, in 2020, will never be forgotten. Covid-19 was knocking on the door, and a heavy snowfall on Saturday night forced the committee to cancel the race on Sunday.
La Thuile never stopped organizing great events, waiting for a new date with the Ladies of speed: Italian championships (young and absolute), European cup and Italian championship for “puppies”, a major event that involved more than 600 young athletes from all over Italy.
Many people have trusted in this project, and the one who believed it most of all is Dante Berthod, brother of Franco, from whom the slope gets its name.
Dante has been working for many years as consultant to the FISI, and today is the vice-president of the organizing committee of La Thuile.
